About Us

Created in 1984 by Mayor Wilson Goode, through fundraising supports and accounts management, The Fund for Philadelphia (The Fund) facilitates private support of priority City of Philadelphia programs and initiatives. As a 501 (c)(3) organization, The Fund manages between $6 Million and $7 Million per year spread across more than 70 active programs. These programs support priority areas such as tourism promotion, public safety, youth and adult education, health and wellness, arts, culture and the creative economy, city planning and economic development, human services, civic engagement, government ethics and emergency preparedness.
Ed Fischer

Ed Fischer is the President and CEO of The Fund. Mayor Michael A. Nutter appointed Ed in November of 2010 to transform the Fund through improved operational management and proactive marketing and fundraising for the Mayor’s priority programs. Ed has more than twenty-five years of experience in non-profit management, marketing and fundraising having worked for a large university, a large national health/research organization, and a national nonprofit organization providing international economic development and relief assistance. Ed holds both an M.S. and B.S. in Economics from American University in Washington, DC.
